Manfryd and Brus shadowed their father during the preparations of the raid on Volantis, learning much about tactics ( Tactician). He was knighted at the age of 17, on the eve of the Volantene Impressment conflict and fought with distinction in the conflict when it broke out. Brus gained much experience growing up under his uncle's tutelage, including both intimidating criminals ( Intimidating) and merchants alike, and squeezing them for a little tax for protection( taxman). Expected to one day lead the city watch for Manfryd, Brus was squired under his Uncle Ser Gerold, who commanded the city watch for his brother Triston. He also received training from the castle’s maesters at arms, becoming skilled in using a sword and both wearing and moving around in armor.
